We are pleased to provide you
this information for acquiring membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
We would like to invite you to one of our monthly meetings. We meet
the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Scottish Rite Hall, located on the
corner of Wright and Palafox Streets in downtown Pensacola. We Begin
with a buffet style meal at 6pm. The cost of the meal is $10.00 per person.
A two day advance reservation is required by calling 455-8554.
If you prefer to skip the meal, meet with us at 6:45 PM.
We look forward to making your acquaintance.
INSTRUCTIONS
To assist us in verifying
your eligibility for membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans you
will need to complete the attached family lineage chart. The more
information on your ancestral family you can provide the better your chances
of finding a qualifying ancestor. In order to expedite your paperwork please
bring the completed lineage form when you come to the meeting. We
will have someone to guide you through the application process.
Start with you and then
list your father’s name and place and date of birth, do the same for your
mother but be sure to use her maiden name.
Next, list each of your
father’s parents and their places and dates of birth, then do the same
for your mothers parents. Again be sure that all of your female ancestors
maiden names are used. Remember that we realize every ancestor’s
names may not be known to you.
Next continue as information
is available from family members or from your family Bible or other sources.
Most likely your qualifying ancestor will come from great grand parents
or great-great grandparents, some may be from the 3rd great grandparent
line. With this information you should be able to locate an ancestor
to qualify you for membership.
Do not regard this
as overly difficult. It isn’t, as all of us have had to complete some research
and help is readily available. Should you have any questions or if we can
be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at 850-455-8554.
For the Membership Committee,
Martin Barker
